Enhancing Safety and Accessibility at a Community-Focused Swim School
First Splashes Swim School is a family-run hydrotherapy and learn-to-swim centre based in Toronto, NSW. When they reached out to Tyrex, the goal was to improve accessibility around their hydrotherapy pool, particularly for users of the wheelchair lift.
Custom Ramp Upgrade for Hydrotherapy Pool Lift
Addressing an Ongoing Challenge
The client had previously used a standard Tyrex ramp and wing combination, but the solution wasn’t custom-manufactured to suit the exact dimensions of the space. As a result, it was too short and continued to present access difficulties.
The solution was a custom-height rubber ramp with integrated side kerbing to provide added safety and ensure full alignment with the pool lift platform. The new design significantly improved ease of access while offering better stability and visual guidance for users
Expanding the Solution to Shower and Change Room Areas
More Than Just the Pool
During the site assessment, it became clear that additional access solutions could benefit the facility, particularly in the unisex changerooms and multiple shower zones.
Tyrex supplied custom rubber water-retention ramps in five key locations: two changerooms and three shower spaces. Each of these ramps was manufactured in one continuous piece to fit the varying lengths and layouts — a practical and hygienic solution that supports safe, trip-free movement in wet areas.
